Donors to Caren Press Patriot Pairs Mentoring Program Scholarship Fund
Six and 1/2 years ago Caren Press founded the George Washington High School Patriot Pairs Mentoring Program. Caren retired from running the George Washington High School Patriot Pairs Mentoring Program at the end of the 2018-19 school year and turned operations over to the the Board of Directors of Patriot Pairs. Upon her retirement, the Board decided to honor Caren by establishing a scholarship for graduating Patriot Pairs mentees in her name. Depending on the amount in the fund, scholarships of at least $1,000 (plus a laptop) are awarded each year to one or more graduating Patriot Pairs mentees who have enrolled in college or a career focused training program. A committee comprised of Caren, a couple of members of the Board of Directors of the program and a couple of community members (including Caren's son Troy, an elementary special education teacher in a Denver public school) decides on the recipients and the amount of the scholarship awards.
